[If he's being honest, which he rarely is, there is a part of Crowley that hopes for a second that the passerby will help, that he'll do the right thing and stop to make sure a young girl is safe. The hope isn't that he'll get out of having to do it himself, it's just—

Sometimes humans make it so bloody hard to love them.]


It'll be a whole thing if he stops, he just doesn't have time to figure out how to help her. [This isn't an excuse, there's a clear edge of anger in Crowley's voice.] Or it's a scam, she's not really poor, her parents just sent her out looking like that so people'll give her money. That's what he'll tell himself, so he can sleep at night.

[That's the problem with having been around humans so long, he knows what's going on in their heads, what little justifications they come up with to make their callousness or cruelty seem less horrifying. It doesn't make him feel any better to know that man will likely end up in Hell. It doesn't help right here and now.]
