Bunny listens to Dan tell him that he feels bad all the time, realizes only as Dan says it that he took for granted that Dan ever felt fine at all, but how would he know otherwise? Dan never complains. What's normal for a forty year old human can't possibly be the same between an addict and a non-addict. Bunny turns maybe if you drank less you would feel better over and over in his mind and wonders how to say that in a way that won't immediately make Dan get up and file for divorce.
"Well I wish that weren't the case," he murmurs, finally, letting Dan paint all the wish you'd get sober into his words that Dan is willing to consider. "How bad would you have to feel, before you let me in on it? How bad before I know I've got to get you to a doctor?"
