The City's Getting Bigger While the World is Getting Smaller [Closed]
Who: Dan, Miguel and Boba
What: Mission at a transitional home!
Where: Clovis, CA
When: After Taskmaster.
Warnings/Notes: Dan's typical warnings, plus anything for Miguel and Boba. Probably discussions of poverty, incarceration, child estrangement and substance abuse will pop up.
Last time, Dan suspected he was sent on a mission because he could speak backwoods French. This time, he suspects he was chosen because his particular life story lends itself to understanding the victims.
Metamorphosis Reborn Living is a transitional housing program that receives a steady influx of discharges from the nearby men's prison. It's a three-month guaranteed warm bed, so long as the people involved don't leave the premises, don't communicate with the outside world, sit quietly when the chaplain lectures, and attend multiple anger management and substance counseling classes a day. The majority of men at the program flunk out, sneaking in contraband cellphones or running off before they graduate or mouthing off to their parole officers until they're given a violation and shipped to the jail.
Recently, however, the social workers at the program have noticed that the men that they assumed were deserting were also leaving all their minimal worldly possessions, which would have been merely a red flag until one of the therapists found a dismembered hand in a trash can. That's what caused this mystery to make its way to the myths.
Dan does wonder if this particular situation would have alerted the radar of the powers that be if there hadn't been a parent-and-child reunification program involved. He doesn't think that felons barely avoiding relapse earn much supernatural protection.
He does a little reconnaissance, and he's sitting on a bus bench outside the barbed wire fence of the program, smoking a cigarette, when the snowglobe opens a portal and shows him who might be working with him on this mission.
