The Quiet Of A Room With No One Around To Find Me Out [Open]
Who: Elle & you!
What: Elle has been hiding since Halloween night. She's fine.
Where: Her room, the infirmary, or the kitchen.
When: Post-Halloween event, aftermath of meeting the Baba Yaga (content warnings below apply to this thread!)
Warnings/Notes: limb loss, dismemberment, self-inflicted injury, references to cannibalism
Elle doesn’t want to admit that she’s avoiding everyone, but every day she fails to leave her quarters is a day that makes that fact harder to ignore. In the aftermath of Halloween night, it’s been all too easy to fall back into her tried and true coping mechanism: isolation and making sure it’s no one’s problem but her own.
a. Elle won’t be leaving her room anytime soon, but there’s plenty of reasons to seek her out. Maybe they need to ask her something, maybe they heard the elves or yetis gossiping about how she was in the infirmary on Halloween, or maybe they just haven’t seen her recently and decide to visit. She can only hope that Jack and Loki have kept quiet about the whole thing.
If someone knocks on the door, she will answer it, but she’ll only open the door enough to stick her head out, keeping her left side blocked from view. She’ll greet them with a casual “what’s up?”
She looks exhausted.
b. Inevitably, the food and medical supplies Elle hoarded before people got back from Burgess is has run out. She doesn’t have much of a choice but to leave.
Elle decides to venture out early in the morning, ideally before even any ‘morning people’ have woken up and after even the ‘night owls’ have gone to sleep. She plans to hit the infirmary first, then the kitchen, and hopefully slink back to her room unnoticed. Her arm is covered by a heavy blanket thrown over her shoulders, so hopefully if she does run into anyone, she can make the interaction short and get past them unscathed. She’s silent as she sneaks through the halls (which is not very helpful if she ends up in someone direct line of sight), but noise is inevitable as she rifles through the medical supplies and pantry respectively. Anyone passing by those rooms will be able to hear that someone’s up and about.
c. Let me know if you have another idea!
(( action or prose is fine, will match style ))

For this reason, he mostly spends time at the infirmary, he basically lives there. The noise certainly doesn't go unnoticed. Elle might be sneaky and possess cat-like reflexes, but Price has learned his way around his place enough pop up in front of her.
"Welcome back." he greets her with a pleasant tone and his patronizing default smile "How may I assist you?"
no subject
"Aiden, fuck! You startled me!" It's true, and she isn't thrilled about it. Is her environmental awareness really so fucked up up that she got snuck up on by a human? That doesn't bode well at all.
"I don't need assistance, but thank you for the offer. I know my way around."
no subject
He activates his white laser to scan her for a split second, just because he can. Not having taken the time to give a good look he doesn't notice much, aside from the arm.
"What happened to your arm?"
no subject
"Did you just scan me?" she asks, not sure if she's more angry or surprised.
"What the fuck, man? Aren't you a doctor? What happened to medical consent?" Anger is definitely winning. She is pissed.
no subject
"You don't have to be treated by me if you are not comfortable with it. However, I have to point out that you lied to me to my face about an extremely important matter, unless you do not think of your well being as such...?"
Price proceeds to ask in the most patronizing tone ever.
"Am I correct in assuming that you do not want anyone to know about this? If so, not only I am confused as to why would you wrap yourself in a blanket that draws the attention to your injury, but I must remind you that many people count on your abilities, and it is your job to communicate whether they get compromised in any way. In fact, not doing so can cost someone's life. I am sorry to say this, Miss Bryant, but I do find this lack of responsibility quite disappointing."
You don't have to be a doctor to know that Elle's sense of responsibility is out of control. And you don't have to be an evil doctor to call out her bullshit, but 1. overly self sacrificial people always end up, regardless of intention, one upping anyone who is looking out for them, and most importantly 2. Price might technically not be bored but he hasn't had the chance to have fun by being mean yet.

"I appreciate your concern, Doctor," she starts in a mild tone. "I would like to say that I did not lie to you. I do not need assistance as I've already been treated and am capable of continuing to perform the necessary maintenance for myself. You are not correct in your assumptions. Necessary parties are already aware of my injuries and they will be accounted for in the immediate future. As far as anyone else goes, I have a right to medical privacy and am not obligated to disclose that information.
"I'm sorry that you are feeling disappointment, but I do not believe it's fairly rooted in my actions."
Elle manages to stop herself from making a pointed jab at Price's professionalism by reminding herself that she is not trying to escalate the situation. Price feeling personally attacked like that would likely lead to him making, and possibly acting upon, threats and she honestly doesn't want to deal with that right now.
She turns to leave.
no subject
"Of course. I trust you to inform all...Necessary parties in case of inability to partake in a mission, without having to discloses any details covered by your right to medical privacy."
She's using the big words! What a sweet little kid she is.
"As you may know, the safest blood to receive in a transfusion is one's own."
This place is small, but the magic allows for the environment's conditions to be perfect for its intended purpose. Combined with a Very Understandable Concern that Price has worded sweetly to the Elves, he has now the satisfaction of opening a refrigerated shelf and grabbing a little plastic bag with Elle's blood.
Sets the IV, pretends not to be delighted as he literally offers her the needle.
"Would you be more comfortable inserting this yourself?"
no subject
"Jesus fucking-- are you even listening when I speak? I don't need a blood transfusion! I've already been taken care of, I was just grabbing bandages and disinfectant to keep it clean." Elle backs several steps away from Price and his needle and his bag of her own blood.
"And I know I didn't agree to my blood being stored, or magic-ed, or whatever the fuck that is."
What is fucking happening?
"I'm-- I'm leaving. I don't know what you're thinking or how you're justifying this behavior to yourself, and I don't care. I'm out of here."
Elle doesn't turn her back on Price, because she's not an idiot, but she does start moving with purpose toward the door.
no subject
"I don't understand." he genuinely sounds innocent when he says it "Have you already been here or to another infirmary that I am not aware of? I have spent most of my time here."
He blinks slowly, he would take a screenshot of her soul if he could.
"Unless...Has this been taken care of through magic?"
no subject
Whatever. This isn't her problem right now.
"Good night, Aiden," Elle calls as she leaves the room. She doesn't believe his innocent act for a second.
no subject
"Goodnight, Elle." he greets her from the door "Try to sleep on your back or your stomach to prevent overstretching. If you do sleep on your side, you might feel your phantom limb hanging from the bed, which is uncomfortable but quite normal. Have some rest."
Elle is not going to listen to that sound advice. That's on her.
no subject
She does have the strong urge to go against it out of spite, but that would just be stupid. All that would get her is more discomfort and Price nothing, or mayb e the smug satisfaction of having gotten under her skin.
Which he hasn't.
Elle walks away from him, wiping her hands of the whole situation.
...
....Wait. How the fuck did he even get a bag of her blood?
